Building Digital Skills for a New Beginning

I am a senior person and had retired last fall and moving into another career.  With the change in direction in my working life  I needed to learn more about computer technology and specifically an Excel program.

I was coming out of the Sackville Sports Stadium and noticed the sign on the window for the BSLN and took the number down.  I called and spoke to the director who immediately referred me to one of the teaching staff who connected with me and we arranged a meeting.  I met a very welcoming person who assessed my needs and we made a plan for convenient times that met with my schedule.

My sessions were one on one and the teacher addressed my every question about the Excel program and I was able to learn how to use the program more effectively to support my new career.  The teacher was amazing, communicating openly, and very knowledgeable.

A short time after that I had another concern regarding the computer with reference to the shared use of a one drive and using the cloud and I did not hesitate to reach out to the teacher once again.  We met a couple of times and worked through it until I had an understanding what was happening and we worked until we had answers to all my questions.

This was a wonderful discovery for me and I feel very fortunate to have this service available to our community. Lifelong learning is important and it’s wonderful that this program supports from youth to seniors in such a unique way of learning.
